Governor Benigno R. Fitial congratulates Mr. Joseph Tudela Sablan for his accomplishments in being commissioned as Army Second Lieutenant. At yesterday’s commissioning ceremony, 2LT Sablan marked another first for the NMI by becoming the first active duty soldier of the U.S. Army to be commissioned in the Commonwealth.
“Lt. Governor Eloy Inos and I congratulate 2LT Sablan for a job very well done,” said Fitial. “And I also congratulate his parents, spouse and children for the accomplishments of their proud son, husband and father.”
Governor Fitial and Lt. Governor Inos joined 2LT Sablan’s family and friends at yesterday’s commissioning ceremony. Also in attendance were House Speaker Froilan C. Tenorio, Sen. Pete P. Reyes and Saipan Mayor Donald P. Flores.
2LT Sablan is a product of the Northern Marianas College-University of Guam Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps. LTC John W. Howerton indicated that Sablan will now await orders for his assignment to an active duty army unit.
“I wish 2LT Sablan well as he embarks on his new duties and responsibilities. We shall continue to pray for all our sons and daughters currently serving in the armed forces,” added Fitial.
The Honorable Governor Benigno Fitial
